Product banners are message bars set per-product that appear at the top of the product detail page and optionally on listing cards. They're a direct, contextual way to highlight a sale, a pre-order launch, limited remaining stock, or a compliance requirement — without editing the product description.

When to use this

In practice
A fashion retailer marks 40 end-of-season products with a Sale-tone banner: 'End of season clearance — 40% off, while stocks last'. The amber banner appears on product cards in the listing and at the top of the PDP. No description editing needed — remove the banner when stock clears.
An electronics store launches a pre-order for a new console. Success-tone banner: 'Pre-order now — ships 15 August'. Cart and checkout proceed as normal; fulfilment is queued. The banner updates to 'In stock — orders shipping now' when stock arrives.
Pro tips
Keep banners short — one sentence, one message. Long banners get ignored.
Remove banners when the condition passes — a 'Sale this weekend' banner left live for a month trains shoppers to distrust your messaging.
Use Dark tone for safety/compliance notices, not Sale — the colour cues shoppers to read it as important rather than promotional.
