Group Price Overrides let you set a different price per product for each customer group. The same product shows at RRP to retail shoppers and at wholesale price to trade account holders — all from a single catalogue entry. Prices are resolved at query time based on the authenticated user's group membership: no duplicated products, no hidden store, no spreadsheet juggling.

What you get
Per-product price per customer group — set individually or as a category-wide % discount
Price resolved server-side — retail shoppers never see wholesale rates, even by inspecting the source
Category-level discount rules — 'Group: Wholesale gets 20% off all products in Consumables'
Override applies to all catalogue surfaces: listing cards, PDPs, cart, checkout, invoices
Compatibility with quantity-break pricing — group discount stacks on top of volume tiers
Price history log — see when group prices were last updated per product
When to use this
Use group price overrides as soon as you have more than one customer segment with different pricing. Even a single wholesale tier with a blanket 15% discount needs this feature enabled — you configure the override once per product (or as a percentage rule across a category) and it applies automatically to every group member.
Best suited for
How to set it up
Create your customer groups first (Dashboard → Customers → Groups)
Open a product in the editor and scroll to the Pricing section
Under Group pricing, select a group and enter the price for that group
Repeat for each group that needs a different price
Alternatively, set a category-level rule: Dashboard → Catalogue → Group pricing rules → New rule → select category + group + discount %
Save — group members see their price immediately on next login; retail visitors see RRP
In practice
Rather than setting prices product by product, the distributor sets two category-level rules: 'Wholesale group: 18% off all Paper & Stationery' and 'Wholesale group: 12% off all Technology'. 3,000 products covered by two rules. Trade buyers see their prices; retail buyers see RRP.
Pro tips
Start with category-level percentage rules for initial setup — they cover your entire catalogue in minutes. Refine specific products with individual overrides only where the group's standard discount doesn't apply.
Always check that your group price is above your COGS + fulfilment cost — it's easy to accidentally set a wholesale discount that sells below cost.
Communicate your pricing tiers to trade buyers upfront — they should know what discount tier they're on and what's needed to reach the next tier.
