Bundle once. Stock automatically. Sell at a premium.

Kits let you sell product combinations — starter packs, gift sets, tool kits, hardware bundles — as a single SKU. Stock availability derives from the component products automatically. When a kit sells, Mika Store deducts each component without any manual stock movements. The kit goes out of stock the moment any component runs out.

This is a Premium feature — available on the Growth ($129/mo) and Advanced ($349/mo) plans.

Sell at a custom bundle price — or set a markup above the sum of components

'What's inside' component list displayed on the product detail page

Kit appears in search and category listings like any other product

Combine with Bundles feature for discount-based multi-item offers

Perfect for gift sets, trial packs, starter kits, maintenance bundles and trade packs

When to use this

Is this right for your store?

Use kits when you sell combinations of products that you physically assemble or pack before shipping. Gift sets, starter kits, 'complete' bundles (drill + bits + case), recipe packs and maintenance kits are perfect candidates. Distinct from Bundles (which are discount promotions) — Kits are actual products with derived stock.

How to set it up

Step-by-step guide

1

Create all the component products individually first (they can also be sold separately)

2

Create a new product and toggle Mark as kit

3

Under Kit components, search and add each component product with its required quantity

4

Set a price for the kit — this overrides the sum of component prices

5

Optionally upload a specific hero image for the kit packaging

6

Save — the 'What's inside' list appears on the product page, and stock is derived automatically

In practice

Real-world examples

BBQ retailer — 'Grill Starter Kit'

The kit contains 1× wire brush, 2× bbq mitts, 1× tong set, 1× thermometer. Each is also sold individually. When a starter kit sells, stock for all four components deducts automatically. The kit goes 'out of stock' the moment the tong set runs out — preventing overselling.

Skin care brand — trial pack

A 'Try Everything' trial kit includes travel sizes of 6 products. It's sold at a $49 kit price (components total $78). Shoppers love the value and discovery; the brand wins the customer before they commit to full-size products.

Pro tips

Get the most out of it

💡

Photograph the kit assembled and packaged — a flat-lay of the components rarely converts as well as a finished-looking gift box.

💡

If a component regularly goes out of stock, stock it with a higher buffer than its individual listings — kit demand compounds single-item demand.

💡

Use a margin calculator before pricing your kit — popular kits sometimes sell below individual product margin if not checked.
