In practice

Real-world examples

Local food producer

A small-batch olive oil producer sells online but also runs a Saturday farmers market. Adding the market as a pickup location lets online buyers collect at the stall β€” saving $12 in freight and giving the producer a chance to upsell. 30% of online orders choose market pickup.

Furniture retailer

A lounge suite costs $180 to deliver. Offering free warehouse pickup 10 minutes from the CBD gives local buyers an attractive alternative. Pickup-order customers also tend to buy accessories while they're in the warehouse.

Pro tips

Get the most out of it

πŸ’‘

Send a 'Ready for pickup' notification the moment the order is packed β€” customers who've been waiting 2 days appreciate the immediacy.

πŸ’‘

Add parking instructions in the location notes β€” reducing friction at the physical collection step is as important as reducing friction in checkout.

πŸ’‘

If you have multiple locations, display estimated wait times alongside each β€” customers will choose the fastest pickup location even if it's slightly further.
